Ace sat up in his bed. The clock on the wall read half past twelve. Ace sighed and got dressed, wearing his usual color palette of the day. The nightmare had repeated, but it seemed worse that night. His father had returned early the day before, out of breath and tired. Ace told the king that Lucas was missing, and he didn't seem to care, so Ace had just ignored his father and went to his room. Today, Ace felt angry. Scared. His brother was missing, the only person who had ever cared about him. His father was just being an ignorant ass, as usual Ace supposed. His mother was off partying somewhere, probably. As the rage built up inside of him, tears poured down his face. He hated his father, so so much. He hated everything about him, using Ace's own weaknesses against him. The prince was done, and he lifted his head. His eyes focused, and he stormed out of the room. On his way to the throne room, he heard a small noise. He peeked his head around the doorway to see where the sound was coming from. It was his mother, the queen. She was curled up on the floor, crying. Images were scattered in front of her, depicting Ace, Lucas and Cybil having...fun. There were pictures of them at the beach, playing volleyball and splashing around. Pictures of them shopping and getting pastries, playing dress up in blanket forts at home. They looked happy... Like a family. Cybil never wore her crown in the pictures, never looked royal at all. Another thing Ace noticed... Fusion wasn't in any of them. A tear rolled down Ace's cheek. 'Maybe his mother did love him....' He thought. Ace tiptoed into the room, looking at the photos. 'Why don't i remember any of these moments?' Ace sat down next to his mother. She shot up, and turned towards him. Her hair was a mess, and her eyes were red and puffy. Ace looked at her, his eyes softening. "Y-your father was never there for you..." She said, softly. "I tried to give you a childhood, a happy one... but.." Cybil lowered her head. "After Fusion found out about this...he called the enchantress to erase your memories." Ace's eyes widened. "I just wanted you to be happy.... I've been forced by him to be cruel, and mean. I loved your father, ever since i was a girl, but.." Tears began rolling down her face again. "He only wanted the money, the power... When i had children, i was so happy! But Fusion only cared about having heirs like him. He tried to teach you how to be like him. I would sneak you two away whenever i could, we would go out and have so much fun together..." Ace wrapped his arms around Cybil. She let out a cry, and pulled him into a tight hug. "I-i missed you mom.." He croaked, his throat already closing up. "I missed you too, Ace." She whispered, running her fingers through his hair. He hugged her tight again, before releasing her. "I'm going to give father a piece of my mind." He says to her. She stands up, collecting the photos. "Good luck, my child." She smiles at him, the kindest he had ever seen her. Ace ran out of the room, sprinting to his father for his sake, his brother's sake, and his mother's.
