The tribute chapter 40. Stance

This animation took so long ;-; The purple eyes followed them as they ran, seeming like stars in the sea of trees that surrounded them. After leaving the ivy, his confidence started to leak, omitting an invisible trail in the leaves. He just had to find them all in the same place. Isle knew the purple light could be seen from farther away that normal lantern light, so he just had to run in their general direction. The girl managed o match his pace, and they both stumbled into a patch of thick overgrowth. Dewdrops fell off of the lush grass, and the dark sky made light sparse and inky. The purple glow remained, lighting their way. And revealing that they were standing in between all if them. Someow, the husks had managed to circle the two of them, trapping them, and suspending their movement in the dense bramble and ivy thickets that had wound their way through the grass. Isle felt himself drawing his sword, instinct taking over. He had been the fighter of this group, and had honed his reflexes to respond to danger almost immediately. This time though, he didn't want to react, and the hands that normally held his weapon aloft proudly were shaking, and struggling to not swing out at anything. The girl next to him touched his shoulder. "If you want to show them you're here, and for them to be able to break out, you might wanna put that away." She said it softly, but her tone said to hurry, and her eyes were full of unease. His eyes filled with tears. If his friends didn't break free, and he didn't have his sword out, the two of them...could die. She pulled her hand off of his shoulder, and returned her eyes to the surrounding forest. He lifted his sword up to about chest height, and took a deep breath. He closed his eyes, and felt the tears fall, before dropping his blade to the forest floor.
