for actual drawing lol;
-if you aren't confident with head shapes, use circles to help guide and practice drawing the head you want
-for bodies, break up the body into sections(as the drawing to the left shows), then sketch over and if you still have difficulty, then practice anatomy and go from there
-for expressions, use references and ideas, try not to use the same face a lot(i have a bad case of same faces)
-don't be afraid to leave drawing a little messy, i sometimes use the sketch as the lineart! it liven ups the art and keeps it from being stiff
-use simple shading, flat color is fine too, but you don't have to like cell shade or something, simplicity is very pretty if well done!
-don't be afraid to experiment! try poses and dynamic faces! it also is a nice way to help art block and boredom.

the best advice i have is to practice and have fun with your art. nobody's art is perfect, so don't worry about small things. have fun drawing!
