The final chapter, 20 years later
Everything had changed since that day. Peace, prosperity, livelihood. Humans and monsters live at peace now, across from each other, separated by the darkness of the forest. The crown of the monsters had been handed over, two weeks after they had returned from the journey. Since Chaos was a suitable heir, all he had needed was a mate. And he found one. They rule together now, years after Ene and Dartus had retired. Anonymous now led the royal guard, fighting and training the new monsters into protectors, and bossing Invert around all the time. Gracie was a baker, always bringing the new kings treats during work. Wren was Wren, always taking Ene out for drinks to let the new kings have some time to themselves. Ace would run around the castle, trying to make it look "better." Chaos didn't see what was wrong with it, but after 20 years of work, there was a definite difference from the inside of a tree to a royal palace. Over in the human kingdom, things had changed. Edge and Meredith had a child, who was too much for them to handle and usually ended up taking their whole group to take care of. Government-wise, everything had turned around. Emerald, Darling, Edge, Isle and Meredith had done everything they had promised. The world was looking up, and 20 years wasn't such a big jump.
