The mountains spread across the surface of Gefigem, covered by budding green trees and dotted with buildings, the only signs of civilisation other than the long empty roads winding through the curves of the hills. On one mountain that twisted around itself sat a small town with only a few tiny stores and not that many houses. Until you drove down one alleyway, through the illusion of another small building, into chillipepper, a larger town, almost a city. More houses and buildings and stores, with a bustling downtown, full of magical humans. There are few draws for people to live in Chillipepper. The first is the plant that it gets its name from, an invasive species brought by some of the first to live there. It’s fiery, both in taste and in magical power, and grows best in a mountain climate. Though, they have too be carefully hand-tended to, creating a lot of jobs. The second is the fact that it’s a pocket town with a relatively low crime rate and lots of benefits to residents, such as a good school and well-kept rodes. The third reason, the reason we’re talking about, is that it holds the biggest base for historians in the region, and maybe even the continent. And that’s where our protagonist, Charlie, lives. THey’ve lived there for almost their entire life with their haphazard family, both blood related and found, only leaving for trips to coll sites to try to figure out a piece of history.
