The tribute chapter 47. Hugs
Isle clenched his eyes shut, his sword clattered on the ground. It was silent in the clearing, apart from the quiet breaths of the monster girl beside him. He held his breath expecting the worst, when the smallest noise echoed faintly in his ears. It got louder, and the recognizable sound of sobbing could be heard. Isle cracked open his eyes and looked up to see Edge, standing at one edge of the clearing, sobbing his eyes out. And the tears were clear. Isle looked straight at Edge, and Edge looked back. Normal eyes. Isle turned to see Emerald and Darling, standing together in a small path through the brambles. they were smiling at each other, and tears were running down their faces. Isle felt the first drops of his own starts to roll down his cheeks. Footsteps alerted him of someone approaching him quickly, and before he could look up, Edge had his arms wrapped around him. Isle returned the hug quickly, each of them pouring out the emotions that had just been bottled up. Edge grinned, even is Isle was hugging him so tight his arms were pinned to his sides. They were all back together again. He didn't remember much about how he broke out, just a loud crash and a bright light. It was almost like a bad dream. He smiled, and leaned into the hug more. By now, Emerald and Darling had worked their way out of the brambled, into the clearing where they stood. Emerald grinned widely. "Feeling ok?" the green boy exclaimed. "Better than ever." Edge said, smiling back. Isle pulled off of him, and turned to someone that Edge didn't even notice. "With all the running we did, we are even closer to the kingdom now!" Idle said to her. She smiled slightly, but was clearly looking over the three of them. Her horns glinted in the sunlight, peeking through the trees. She glanced right at him, and he looked away awkwardly. Isle looked back at him. "I said i would take her to the human castle if she helped me free you." Edge turned and smiled at her. "Thank you for your help...um.." He stopped, not knowing her name. "It's better if you don't know my name." She grinned, revealing sharp pointed teeth. Edge felt something poke his back, and he turned to see Darling smiling at him. "If were going to the castle, it means you get to see Meredith." That made Edge grin wider. He hadn't seen her for a while, and wondered how she was holding up in that wretched place. Isle groaned. "That means as soon as we get there, you're going to run off and forget all about us!" Edge rolled his eyes. Darling piped in "Yeah man, bros before hoes." Edge turned sharply. "My girlfriend is not a "hoe" you dick!" Darling laughed loudly, and Emerald rolled his eyes. "Hes just joking, Edge. She's special to you, so it's fine if you spend time with her, instead of this idiot." Emerald hit Darling over the back of his head. Edge smiled. "Thanks, Em." Darling muttered in the background, rubbing his head. "ThAnKs eM!!!" Emerald shoved him over, and walked over to the others. Darling rolled his eyes and jogged after him. "So we're off to the human kingdom?" Edge asked, looking at Isle. Isle nodded. "After all that, we owe it to her. And I think we deserve a rest break. The group set off through the forest, feeling lighter that ever. The monster trailed in the back, seeming on high alert and always stopping to look at everything, like she was memorizing every tree. Edge shrugged, and turned his attention back to his friends.
