The Lady - A Short Story of how Jay met Juile (working on her name). It was 12:56 AM, Jay was tripping along the sidewalk. He was walking around stumbling from side to side nearly losing consciousness a few times. Every street light illuminated the seemingly endless pavement in front of him. Stopping at the intersection, dazed and confused, he wearily stared at the stoplight camera for a short bit. Almost anybody else was either asleep or a long distance away from him at the time, the atmosphere was dead-silent and uncanny. The stars were gleaming with confidence that night. Jay’s mind felt twisted within such a combination of fatigue and drowsiness and couldn’t think about any other thing than resting himself. His memories have been wiped clean off him and all he knew was that he was named Jay Wellings and that he needed sleep. 1:11 AM, Jay’s drowsiness started to reduce little by little and began to walk in straight lines, still plagued by memory loss. Two-quarters of his way home, he takes the usual path down by the creek while there, he gradually witnesses unfamiliar sightings of tech and machinery. The creek was usually full of naturally adapting organisms such as lizards and snakes, but to Jay’s surprise, they weren’t present. Most of them are often heard and seen bustling in the bushes and trees occasionally being nuisances to Jay. This time the only occurrences that could be heard were of mechanical nature. Jay didn’t let this trigger his curiosity too much, as he only craved his pillow, mattress, and blue-striped covers and made his way beyond the verdant coated creek. Jay could barely manage to keep his eyelids open sufficiently until a sound caught his ear; the yelling of a woman, who in fact sounds like she’s struggling. Jay didn’t mind this much and kept walking, he then heard loud clatters of metal and plastic coming from one side of a building, as if a fight was breaking out, in fact, a fight was breaking out, but not only did Jay not know that it wasn’t any of his concern, so he didn’t care. At long last, he had finally reached his goal, his home. He opened and closed his front door in world record time, however, he saw something right before he closed it. He opened the door a crack and found the sight of a woman, who he assumes is the same one from minutes ago, being dragged rather violently by two men into the same building that connects to all the contraptions and gizmos into the forest. Still, this did not bother Jay as he climbed upstairs with his sluggish movements and slithered into his room, crawling into his warm, inviting bed. 3 hours into his slumber, he encounters his dreams where he discovers a behemoth of a Black-necked swan standing in the haze of nowhere making the most obnoxious noise, flapping and flailing it’s blinding white wings about. Jay was bewildered and didn’t know what to do besides stare at the poor thing. Suddenly, in the dead of 3:25 AM, Jay woke up to an ear-piercing blast followed by a vertical beam of light coming from the factory roof as seen from his window conveniently placed in perfect view of its location. The sight was immensely shrouded in mystery and left Jay puzzled the longer he stared at it. Jay eventually, at 3:35 AM, reached a startling hypothesis. Perhaps the lady he saw earlier is currently being tortured inside that building, although he has no clear evidence to confirm his theory, coincidentally, the lady was seen escaping from the building and into a nearby alleyway at 3:37 AM. This gave Jay the green light to look into whatever was going on, in other words, he’ll be nosy.
