A complaint.

I´ve noticed the more detailed animations, while running smoothly in the preview, are extremely laggy when viewing the actual thing. I really want to make an animated series on here, I intend to have color and make it look at least decent. But I don´t want it to lag when people are viewing it. I could just use Toonator, but it doesn't provide the tools I´d like. Now I don´t know if it´s only me with this problem, but if so, I´d really appreciate if it were to be addressed.

You gotta have an account (and be logged in) to add comments. I know: bummer, right?

@Awkward__Artist No worries. I understand the frustrations. I just wish I would work faster/harder on this site than I'm presently able to.

@Small_Radishes When I got live, it will simply mean that people can sign up without having to be vetted by me or a mod. Everything will remain the same. Your account, the animations...nothing's going anywhere.

After all, it'd be terrible to simply throw away 10,000 awesome animations!

@ClaytonR Thank you. Sorry if you´ve heard this many times before. I understand that it may get annoying to hear the same complaint over and over again.

The current version of the editor was my very first attempt to build one, and it's chock full of inefficiencies and sub-optimal algorithms but it was a major learning experience for me. The lag could be caused by a combination of various factors, including computer/device speed and complexity of the image. I find that most complaints about lag are from animations with hundreds of little strokes. Some of it also is caused by the artist copying and pasting the same drawing over and over and over unchanged when you can simply grab the edges and stretch it out over several frames.

That being said, I'll soon be starting work on a new version of the editor, which, if I can pull it off, will allow for much more complex animation without as much lag.
