It was early morning, the sun was rising on Minsawood, a young town built deep in the woods. Zariat wakes as a ray of light angles on his face. He gets up grumpily looking up to see Laxmi, his knight. Laxmi sets down a piece of broken glass she had angled the light with and stands staring at him. Zariat scrambles to his feet and does a light bow. “Sorry madam.” he says. She sits there for a while before saying “what are you waiting for?”. Zariat’s ears perk up and he quickly grabs his sword before running out the door. He had forgotten he was to be knighted today, he had been looking forward to this day for his entire life. Zariat entered the clearing in the center of the town, dew sticking to his paws. He looks over to a group of squires he grew up with, most of them didn't make it past pups leaving only 5 to go into knighthood. He trots over to them happily, they all perk up happy to see him. Smiling he greets all of them before turning to Laxami who was watching from a ways away. He smiles happily and stands as the ceremony starts. He politely watches as each of the groups of squires was called up and knighted by Baron Hissan who led this town. After 4 names are called and they pause, Zariat becomes uneasy as he watches as people start to leave the crowd. They announce the assembly is over and Zariat watches as his friends are led away to the dining hall. He looks over to see Laxami whispering to the announcer. “Zariat Lightpaw” the announcer yells out. Some of the leftover crowd comes back to see the last knighthood. Zariat walks up onto the stage kneeling in front of the baron. He vows to the agreements that are read off in clear words by the announcer. The baron takes his sword and carefully knights Zariat. He looks up at the baron smiling politely, trying to hide his obvious excitement. After waiting for the announcer to finish he looks out at the now dwindling crowd and then looks over at Laxmi who gestures him to the group of new knights heading towards the dining hall. His eyes widen as he walks up to the large room full of long tables lit by candles and fireplaces lining the walls. Zariat turns to look at the food covering the tables in bountiful piles of breads and meats alike. Walking past the tables he approaches the group of new knights. They smile and greet him and he is called forward to claim his sword and given his armor plates. He puts it on briskly and proudly standing tall, the rest of the group was already suited. A retiring knight walks in front of us and loudly announces, “You all have done well in your training, and have now been introduced into knighthood, you will work your hardest to protect our civilization with your life.” he stops to look at one of the knights who he had been mentoring. “I believe some of you are well equipped for the dangers of what lies before you, but many wolves have fallen. Be brave. Your first job is to patrol the southern flank.” He walks away. Zariat’s tail wags and he turns to talk to the group but they had already turned to go. He catches up to the group. “Are you guys excited?!” He barks happily at one of the knights. The knight turns to him and nods happily. The group passes through the town of buildings and stores to the northern wall, climbing up the ladders to the patrol stands. He passes many soldiers whom he may control in the future. He takes his place on the wall. https://drawn.digifi.ca/play/4emz52
