My Opinion on Wings of fire(so far)
Right now, im in the middle of reading the second arc, so forgive me if anything changes after book 7/8. My overall score : 6.5/10 Summary : Wings of fire is a mix mash of ideas which form an easy to follow story-line which most could get invested into. the first arc characters are decent enough, with reasonably thought out intentions and morals. The side characters are where Wings of fire falls short, everyone in the story arcs is either A) Hyper aggitated Hot head or B) overly friendly and can do no wrong By far, my least favorite group of dragons is the nightwings, who all seem to be hot headed edge lords with no character development, besides the odd massacre or betrayal. Which i find very annoying considering about one third of the story revolves around nightwings in the second arc, and a full two thirds in the first. The 2nd arc characters are pretty bland, they ruin anemone pretty quickly, and all the characters that seem interesting either die, or are over shadowed by miss mary sue night wing. The also ruin most of the original cast, besides peril clay and sunny. they all seem like fouder now, which is kinda awful. i didnt see the point in introducing a bunch of dragons in the second arc only to use like four of them and leaving the rest. Darkstalker would be a twist villain if you didn't read the prequel first, making him the most obvious twist since the straw. All the villans follow the same true tropes A) 'I want power so im going to use ____ relic to get it.' or B) 'I want to help/improve myself/tribe/kingdom so im going to gain ____ powers using ____.' which makes for bland writing. theres a ton of unnecessary filler which makes the stories drag on without reason. they randomly kill off heavily developed side characters which i think is due to running out of ideas, no one dragon has more than two character traits, making for cookie cutter - esc writing. i dont 'hate' wings of fire, im enjoying reading through the most part, but as it drags on the chain to these 'big events' it seems like even the writers dont know whats going to happen. -Holy
