The tribute chapter 48. Disguise

When they reached the kingdom, the gates were wide open. It made sense for this time of day, around unch. people would be flooding the marketplace, selling food and clothes and all kinds of trinkets. The four boys made a tight circle around the girl, hiding her from the crowds of people. They walked until the found a small curtained in area, presumably for storage considering the boxes inside. Sne ducked in, and the boys surrounded it. After a bit of thinking, Edge reached into his bag and pulled out a swath of white and grey fabric. "What's that?" Emerald asked. Darling grinned. "It's a way for monsterina over here to not be noticed. Well, on the clothing front." She poked her head out of the curtain. "What's wrong with my clothes?" Emerald winced. Darling smirked. "Well dear, the only reason a monster would want to come to this kingdom is to get into the castle. And the only way you're going to do that is to wear this." Darling took the cloth out of Edge's hands and offered it to her. She took it, and ducked back into the curtains to change. After a minute or two, a small yelp could be heard from inside the curtain. She poked her head back out. "What the FUCK is this??" Darling giggled. Edge offered the explanation. "My girlfriend, Meredith, is a maid inside the castle. That's where most female prisoners go, anyways. This is one of her spare dresses, i had to get thread to fix it a few villages over. I remembered i had it just now." She groaned. Emerald noticed something. "But what about her horns, and eyes? That's the most noticeable giveaway." Isle scrunched up his face. "Hmm, you're right." At that moment, Edge heard three loud bells from a nearby church. "Shit! Three already?? Sorry guys, i have to meet Meredith, like, now." Emerald nodded understandably. "Take Isle, the guards may question you, and you don't want a repeat of last year." Isle giggled in remembrance, before the two of them weaved their way through the crowds, towards the castle. Darling and Emerald then returned to the problem at hand. She was glaring at them, and Darling had to stifle another giggle. Something popped up in Emeralds head. "Hey, maybe we could find some kind of hat, or a blindfold of some kind to cover your eyes. This market really has everything." Darling grinned. "Sounds good! Ill meet you here if i find something." Darling dashed off towards the nearby stalls. Emerald followed after. About five minutes later, they had each found an item she could wear. Anonymous was furious. She had not come all this way to be treated like a barbie doll. This had better get her into the castle. She stepped out of the curtain, and into the bright autumn light. The blonde boy clenched his teeth, and she glared at him. The giant bow bobbed when she walked, and the mask dulled her vision annoyingly. The ribbons of the bow wrapped around her horns, concealing them effectively, and completely unnecessarily. She wanted the king to know who had rescued her brother. Emerald was trying to comfort her. Darling was giggling manaicaly. Anonymous was being extremely grumpy. Life was looking up, so they started towards the castle.
