im writing poems for school

here is one im working on now{only half way through} Wishes The first wish was a simple one, typical of a young child The wish to be able to fly Weeks of thinking of this wish happened, And then, wings burst forth from their shoulders And they ran and flew into the sky, Joyous and laughing as they tumbled through the clouds Their cheeks brushed by the sun’s fingertips As they saw the expanse of blue and green Flying over the entire earth And they landed back home Still feeling on top of the world Before they were dragged back down by the comments and stares The second wish was a wish of a lonely kid A wish for a friend They prayed for one for weeks Always talking to everyone at school Until finally, they looked in the mirror And their reflection smiled even with tears streaming down their face And the child’s imagination and all of their friends Appeared next to them No one else could interact with them though And the child sank into their own little world The third wish was the wish of a growing pre-teen The wish to not grow into a specific gender The child worried for weeks Constantly seeing themselves grow up Into a girl And finally, they grew a bit more masculine And they didn’t have a specific gender They got asked about it every day By strangers, peers, parents No one ever understood them Except their friends they had created And they sunk away even more The fourth wish was that of a young teen A wish for more sleep The teen had never been able to sleep And now had to do so many more things But they never felt rested ______ ignore how sad it is, it gets sadder
