species contest (info in desc)

K, so here's my entry for this contest here: https://drawn.digifi.ca/play/9w4fuv by @_Disaster_ Some of you may remember this thing as I made it here: https://drawn.digifi.ca/play/gjqxrd for another contest. However, I decided that I wanted to expand upon it for this one. When I designed this species I specifically wanted it to look like something that could actually exist in real life but is either extincted or does exist but hasn't been officially been discovered yet. I also wrote the info w/ the idea in mind that this is a creature that not many have seen, so it's based on "word of mouth" more so than any actual concrete/factually known. Anyway here's some info about about the species: This creature goes by many names in different cultures, but the "scientific" name for this species is Articulo Mortis/Amiculi Mortis (Both Latin for "At the last moment of death" and "Little friend of death"). Basically this is sort of a cryptic species, something that very few have been able to see it. Though it's not hostile, it only appears when someone is going to die (hence the name). This is because they're basically like vultures and eat corpses/bones. It's generally believed that they have long lifespans, and there's no real difference between males and females, except that the females are slightly bigger. When comparing the three different types that are believed to exist, the African version is the largest and has more browns in it's color palette. The South American version is second largest and is more grey in color. And the Asian version is the smallest w/ reddish brown/blonde hues/tones. While it's most likely possible that all three categories could mate and have offspring, there's no telling as to what they would look like. Because it lives/has been spotted in 3 different continents, it also has various meanings/connotations to different cultures. They're seen as more spiritual to indigenous cultures of the respective continents, while European colonizers see them as bad omens/satanic and eats the souls of the impure. Near the Andes Mountains it's generally viewed as a guardian of the afterlife. In Eastern Africa, their version is generally viewed as a trickster god making you go insane just before you die. And in Southern Asia it's generally viewed as a good luck spirit that's a sign that your soul has been blessed. Their general behavior is extremely aloof, they're fast runners/sprinters, and can easily hide anywhere they want. The fact that they all look similar to other prey mammals is also what helps them from being easily seen/spotted. So that's all I have for now. Anyway hope yall and @_Disaster_ like this! #disasterscontest1
