The tribute chapter 34. Dungeon.

It was cold. Lucas cracked open his eyes, and looked around. He was lying on a cold cement floors, in a dark room. He looked over, to see his brother sleeping on the floor beside him. Lucas quickly sat up, and shook Ace's shoulders. His brother grumbled, and woke up. "W-where are we?" Ace asked. Lucas looked around. "We're in the dungeon, i think. But we're the prisoners this time." Ace shivered. It was cold in here. Lucas looked around again. There was a pile of cloth in one corner of the room. He grabbed it, and wrapped Ace in it. The grey fabric was thin, but at least it would help. They burritoed themselves into the cloth and huddle close to each other. They stayed that way for a while, before a sharp scraping sound brought their attention back to the surrounding area. A door had opened somewhere, and more cold air was leaking into the room. The castle only got this cold when it rained. Footsteps sounded, echoing around the stone walls of the dungeon, each one getting louder as the stranger approached. A torch blared up somewhere in the hall, lighting the way for a familiar face. It was one of the castle knights, Invert. He walked towards the bars, and leaned on a wall close by. "Hey there criminals." He said it with such a straight face, as if the two of them were the villains. Ace made towards the bars, but Lucas pulled him back. Invert grinned. "Wise choice. My sword is made of gold." He tilted the blade, and it shone in the orange firelight from the lit lantern in the hall. "What do you want." Lucas asked, more of a demand than an actual question. Invert sighed, lowering his blade a bit. "I cam to warn ya'." Ace and Lucas looked up at him, confused. "I've been down to the place they're planning on taking you boyz." Invert looked at them. "I recognize the tools, and i know what they're going to try to accomplish." Ace and Lucas glanced at each other before returning their eyes to Invert. "What are they going to do to us?" Ace asked, searching and finding Lucas's hand, and clutching it tight. Invert held his hand behind his head. "Sixth sense transfer experiments." Invert said, in a monotone voice. "I've been around here long enough to know these end badly." The two boys eyes widened. They had heard about these, but had never actually realized these experiments would affect them. Invert cleared his throat awkwardly. "So, uh..." He loosened his collar. "Well, im a close friend of your mother's, and she has asked me to...keep an eye on you boys." Ace looked at Lucas, before realizing Lucas still thought their mother hated them. Ace explained everything to Lucas, and they both felt a bit better knowing she was trying to help them, in any little ways she could. Invert huffed. My duty is still to my kingdom, and i can't stop the experiments from happening, but, ill try to make sure you don't die, a'ight?" The two boys nodded, fearful of what's to come.
