my thoughts on kotoura san

it was shit
okay not completely but
some of it was shit and it ruined most of the ending for me
watch out theres some spoilers ahead in case you plan on sitting down and watching 11 episodes of a stale anime

in like, the last 2 or 3 episodes, everything just>>??? went downhill??
kotoura got into this stupid fight with manabe, and it was dragged on too long. the anime even acknowledges this?? and they dont do anything until, boom, fucking people get injured and kotoura gets kidnapped and everything has gone wrong.
speaking of which, kotoura getting attacked by the detective, who turned out to be an extremely troubled victim of split personality disorder was really dark. that was a super dark theme for the type of anime this was made out to be
the worst things that had been happening prior were, 1, kotoura was left behind by her family because of her power to read minds, and 2, mifune's mother committing suicide when she was very young. and yes, i understand these are also dark themes, but they were both portrayed as simple flashbacks, and the characters being affected by them didnt really show much of a long term reaction?? just, "umu im sad/angry at this specific moment to drive the plot, dont fuck with me or ill have an emotional outburst" on occasion.
okay,, i guess kotoura shows,, some signs of depression?? ill give it that
but its still not at direct and as dark as the scene where kotoura literally almost gets beaten to the ground
thREE TIMES
there was also this kind of?? fucked up dialogue?? between the detectives different personalities?? the whole thing set a creepy and thrilling tone that the off the rest of the anime for me. i couldnt shake off the whole scene quick enough to immerse myself in future interactions between characters.
which really fucking sucked, because kotoura and manabe had a decent moment and i couldnt even indulge in it
ghwwgghhgwgw sorry im a crybaby bitch about this, its just the contrasting tone in the story was handled so badly that i cant handle myself hgwwwvhgw
