ok so shulkers are born as humanoid babies with no shell, so they're v vulnerable and require a lot of care. around puberty is when the shulk will develop its shell! they shed their shells around every ten or so years and can live past 100-200 yrs old. shulker shells are pretty valuable for storage & that's why end city loot is so good lol Dragon’s breath potions make victims affected by it lose sanity and become homicidal, paranoid, begin hallucinating, grow physical abnormalities, or all of the above. when leiyre was about ten or so, humans came and raided lei's end city he and some other shulks were in a protective sleep mode (regular mc shulkers -- the non-humanoid vers) and weren't affected by the potion, but lei's mother was. she became incredibly hostile and grew these tentacle things from her back made of shulker shell, so they were extremely tough. its what caused lei his giant scar. he had to flee for his life and is too terrified to return to the end city just yet. he's holding onto the hope that everyone is okay, but he's still scared of humans and other shulks. he has constant nightmares and survivors guilt and mommy issues lmao. after fleeing he survived by doing manual labor for villagers in exchange for a room and food. its why he's become so strong and why he loves helping people. he still loves his shulk culture, and is very proud of his heritage, but he's still terrified to return. [he doesn't end up killing his mom or becoming a shulker poacher ok bc that's just,,, intense and too insane cause whos gonna b friends w a fuckimg murderer.]
